Dry Cleaning Peak Season: 3 Time Slots That Save You Nearly Half

Ladies, is your place piled up with winter clothes too?

Same here—down jackets, wool coats, thick comforters, all waiting to be cleaned. I called my dry cleaner, and they said: “Orders are overwhelming right now, earliest pickup is a week away.”

This isn’t unique. I interviewed several dry cleaners and found it’s truly “peak cleaning season”—orders doubled, staff working overtime.

But here’s the thing: seasonal dry cleaning has money-saving secrets. Today I’m sharing 3 time slots that, tested myself, can save nearly half the cost.

Time Slot 1: Weekday Mornings Before 10 AM

Many think “weekends are convenient,” so they send clothes then. But weekends are busiest at dry cleaners, with highest prices.

I tested and found weekday mornings before 10 AM often have “early bird discounts.” At my usual shop, weekday morning drop-offs save 10 RMB per down jacket, 15 RMB per wool coat.

Plus, morning drop-offs can be picked up afternoon or next day—faster turnaround.

Time Slot 2: Avoid Peak, Go Early or Late

Now (mid-late April) is peak cleaning season, prices naturally higher.

But if you can go early (late March) or late (early May), many shops offer “off-peak discounts.”

I learned the hard way last year: mid-April down jacket cleaning cost 80 RMB; this year late March, same shop, only 50 RMB.

That 30 RMB difference? Enough for two bubble teas.

Time Slot 3: Member Day

Many dry cleaners have “member days”—usually certain dates monthly where members get discounts.

My shop’s member day is the 8th of each month, 20% off all services. I usually save up clothes and send them all on member day.

Membership cards require pre-loading money, but if you have a regular nearby cleaner, getting a card is worth it—regular points plus member day discounts.

Another Money-Saving Tip

Many don’t realize some clothes don’t need dry cleaning.

Like down jackets—if not very dirty, you can hand wash at home with specialized detergent, air dry, then gently pat with a hanger to restore fluffiness.

I tried washing my own down jacket last year, saved 80 RMB, results were good. But you need time and patience.

Final Thought

Peak cleaning season means higher prices and longer waits—that’s normal. But master these time slots, and you’ll save significantly.

Honestly, saving money isn’t being cheap—it’s spending every yuan where it counts. Rather than wasting money, learn these little tricks.
