April Welfare Package: Pension Supplements, Medical Insurance Upgrades, Travel Savings Guide
Sisters, did you know? This month, nearly 180 million elderly people across China quietly received money in their bank accounts.
Not from their children, not from scams—directly from the government as pension supplements!
Honestly, when I saw this news, my first reaction was: Did my mom receive it?
I called her immediately, and she said: “What? I didn’t know. I didn’t get a text.”
I had her check the bank, and sure enough—it was there!
This made me realize: Many policy benefits, if you don’t actively learn about them, you’ll miss out.
So I spent a week going through all the welfare policies implemented in April 2026 and compiled this “foolproof” guide.
Pension Supplement: Three Steps to Check
Let’s start with the pension supplement, this month’s biggest benefit.
Who can receive it?
- Those who retired before December 31, 2025
- Those who retired after January 1, 2026 (will receive supplement upon retirement)
How much?
- Basic pension: 180 yuan increase per person per month
- Elderly supplement: Extra 50 yuan/month for those over 80
- Supplement period: January-March 2026, 3 months total
How to check?
- Bring ID card to social security office window
- Login to “National Social Insurance Public Service Platform” website
- Call 12333 hotline
⚠️ Note:
- No application needed, automatic deposit
- If not received by April 15, verify with social security office
- Remember to check pension details for January-March 2026
Medical Insurance Upgrade: Pharmacy Purchases Now Reimbursable
Medical insurance also changed this month.
What changed?
- Designated pharmacies expanded from 50,000 to 150,000
- Prescription drugs can be purchased with medical insurance card at designated pharmacies
- Chronic disease medication reimbursement increased from 60% to 70%
How to use?
- Open “National Medical Insurance Platform” app
- Click “Designated Pharmacy Query”
- Enter your city to see all designated pharmacies
How much saved?
For example, my mom has high blood pressure and takes medication monthly. Originally 120 yuan at pharmacy, now with medical insurance card, she only pays 36 yuan.
That’s 84 yuan saved per month, 1,008 yuan per year!
Travel Savings: These Tickets Can Be Refunded
Now about travel savings.
Train ticket refund rules changed:
- More than 8 days before departure: Free
- 48 hours - 8 days before: 5% fee
- 24-48 hours before: 10% fee
What was it before?
- Free refund only 15+ days before departure
- 20% fee for refunds within 48 hours
How much saved?
For example, a 500 yuan train ticket, need to refund due to emergency:
- Before: 100 yuan fee
- Now: 25 yuan fee
That’s 75 yuan saved!
My Advice: Don’t Let Benefits Sleep
After all this, here’s my advice to sisters: Don’t let your benefits sleep.
Many policy benefits, if you don’t actively learn about them and apply, you’ll miss out.
I’ve seen too many people waste thousands or even tens of thousands in benefits because they “didn’t know,” “it’s too much trouble,” or “don’t know how to operate.”
So share this article with your family and friends, especially the elderly.
This money is real welfare from the country—make sure you get it in your hands.
