Credit Card Savings Guide: 4 Cards Worth Getting in April 2026—Save 3000 Yuan a Year
End of month again, checking the bill—heart drops.
But this time different—I reviewed my credit card bills from past year and realized: using cards right actually saves money. Today sharing my “credit card savings guide”—all tested methods, not theory.
Why Can Credit Cards Save Money?
Many think “credit cards just cost money”—not true. Used right, credit cards are money-saving tools.
Key is two things:
- Choose right card: Different cards have very different benefit levels
- Use right way: Know when to swipe which card
I used to swipe randomly too. After serious research, found I missed lots of deals. Now organized 4 most worthwhile cards for April 2026—friends can reference.
Card #1: China Merchants Bank YOUNG Card (Young People’s First Choice)

- Meituan delivery spend 30 get 15 off (weekly once)
- Food vouchers buy 100 get 50 (monthly once)
Tested savings:
- Starbucks: save 35 yuan/week × 4 weeks = 140 yuan/month
- Meituan: save 15 yuan/week × 4 weeks = 60 yuan/month
- Food vouchers: save 50 yuan/month
- Total: 250 yuan/month, 3000 yuan/year

- Annual fee waived with 6 swipes (easy to reach)
- Credit limit not high but enough for daily use
Card #2: Bank of Communications Walmart Card (Supermarket Essential)
Target: Frequent supermarket shoppers, homemakers

Card #4: SPD Bank American Express Card (Travel Essential)

- Hotel stay-one-get-one-free (multiple hotels participating)
- No foreign transaction fees overseas
Tested savings:
- Airport lounge: ~200 yuan each, used 8 times last year = saved 1600 yuan
- Hotel stay-one-get-one: saved 800 yuan last year
- Total: 2400 yuan/year
Notes:
- Fixed annual fee (3600 yuan), but worth it if used well
- Suitable for frequent travelers, don’t get if you rarely travel
My Card Strategy
My approach: Use 4 cards together, different cards for different scenarios.
- Fridays: CMB (Starbucks, Meituan) + BOCOM (Walmart)
- Online shopping: CITIC (9x points)
- Travel: SPD (lounge, hotels)
- Others: Any card fine
Over a year, saved about 7000-8000 yuan. Of course this varies by person, but used right, saving 3000-5000 yuan is definitely possible.
Pitfall Warnings
Finally, a few reminders:
- Don’t over-spend for deals: Saving的前提 is “was going to buy anyway,” not buying for the discount
- Pay on time: Late fees and interest will eat up all your savings
- Don’t get too many cards: 4-5 is enough, too many hard to manage
- Read promotion rules carefully: Some promotions have thresholds, don’t get trapped
Credit cards aren’t “traps”—used right they’re “saving tools.” Hope this guide helps friends. Any questions, leave comments, I reply to all I see.
