Summer 2026 Confirmed Hotter—Don't Turn on Your AC Before Doing This One Thing

Sisters, have you noticed it’s getting hotter lately?

I checked the weather forecast—summer 2026 is confirmed to be hotter than usual. When you turn on your AC for the first time this season, there’s one thing you absolutely must do: clean the filter.

Don’t shrug it off. Last year, when I first turned on my AC, the smell literally knocked me out. Imagine: months of accumulated mold, bacteria, and dust in your unused AC, all blown straight into your face the moment you switch it on.

I thought my AC was broken at first. Later I learned it was just my “dirty AC” acting up.

Simple 3-Step Cleaning

AC cleaning isn’t hard. It has two parts: filter cleaning and internal unit cleaning.

Step 1: Unplug—Safety First

No explanation needed. Always disconnect power before any cleaning.

Step 2: Remove and Wash the Filter

Most AC filters are behind the front panel—just pull gently and it opens. The filter is where most dust accumulates. Rinse with water and use a soft brush to remove dust. For stubborn dirt, use warm water with a small amount of neutral detergent.

Warning: Don’t use strong acid or alkaline cleaners—they’ll damage the filter.

Step 3: Wipe the Evaporator

The evaporator behind the filter also accumulates dust, but it’s trickier to handle. I’d suggest using a dedicated AC cleaner spray, let it sit for 15 minutes, then run in fan mode to dry.

Professional vs DIY

Filter cleaning is completely DIY, but deep internal cleaning should be done by a professional every 6-12 months.

I tried to disassemble mine once and ended up with two extra screws when I reassembled it… So now I just call a technician.

Humidifier Plus AC?

Some households use humidifiers alongside AC. Be careful: humidifier mist mixed with AC cool air creates a bacteria breeding ground.

If you use both, pay extra attention to regular AC cleaning—otherwise your “health tool” instantly becomes a “disease source.”

The Difference After Cleaning

After cleaning and turning on the AC, the difference is night and day:

  • Airflow is much smoother
  • No more moldy smell
  • Cooling feels more effective

Most importantly, the air blowing out is actually clean.

Sisters, AC cleaning really isn’t optional. Don’t wait until that “toxic gas attack” moment to regret it. While it’s not super hot yet, get your AC cleaning scheduled now.

Reflection Question

When was the last time you cleaned your AC? Do you DIY filter cleaning or call a professional?
