Graduation Luggage Storage Guide: Where to Put Your Stuff When School Says Go

亲测有效!When I graduated last year, my dorm was closing but I had一堆 belongings I couldn’t immediately move. I found several solutions afterward, with costs ranging from free to a few hundred yuan. Let me share them with you.

First: school’s temporary storage service. My school opened the gymnasium for graduate luggage storage during the last week before graduation, at 5 yuan per item per day. Lowest cost but limited space, first-come-first-served. You need to watch school announcements - spots fill up fast.

Second: private storage near campus. Near my school, a local resident converted their basement into a storage point at 30 yuan per item monthly, much cheaper than formal warehouses. Downsides: you need to pack and label everything yourself, and mix-ups happen.

Third: online storage platforms. I used “存存” and “行李寄存” mini-programs - after ordering, express pickup comes to collect, stored in their warehouses, charged daily. Great for lots of stuff and if you can’t make trips yourself.

Fourth: ship home. I calculated last: using Debang Logistics’ 100kg+ bulk service was actually cheaper than two months of storage, just requires more packing trips.

Fifth: sell on Xianyu. For stuff you really don’t want to bring, list it on Xianyu early - other graduates buy from graduates, prices are negotiable, and you’re giving items a new home.

Sixth: donate. Many charity organizations set up donation points during graduation season. Clothes, books, daily necessities - donate and help others while being eco-friendly.

Overall, my personal take: sell what you can, donate what you can’t sell, ship essentials, store the rest. Where this is worth the effort: a reasonable storage plan saves significant moving costs and keeps your small rental apartment from堆满行李箱.

Hope this helps upcoming graduates!
