Summer Hasn't Arrived, But My Mosquito Defense Is Ready

‘Deal with mosquitoes in April, or suffer all summer’—that’s my rule after last year’s mosquito nightmare.

This year I started laying defenses in early April. Half a month in, mosquitoes are noticeably fewer than last year.

Line #1: Physical barriers. Sealed screen holes with adhesive patches. Installed magnetic screen door—mosquitoes can’t enter when door opens.

Line #2: Environmental modification. Weekly checks of plant saucers and vases, dumping stagnant water. Bathroom drain covers block mosquitoes and odors.

Line #3: Physical extermination. Electric racket, mosquito trap lamp, and bed canopy as primary defense. Chemical repellents only for emergencies.

Mosquito defense isn’t about ‘killing’—it’s about ‘preventing.’ Once they’re inside, it’s too late.
