I Bought Every Popular Cleaning Product in 2026—Only 3 Are Actually Worth It
As someone who battles kitchen grease every single month, I’ve probably spent enough on cleaning products to buy a phone.
Every time I see “must-have cleaning essentials” recommendations, I can’t resist buying them. And the result? I’ve stepped on way more landmines than I can count.
This year I got smarter. I bought all the popular cleaning products on the market and tested them out thoroughly. Today I’m reporting back—which ones are actually worth buying, and which ones are just marketing hype.
Contestants in This Test
I purchased these products:
- Oxygen bleach powder (explosion salt)
- Japanese Daiso cleaning powder
- A domestic brand kitchen heavy-duty cleaner
- Baking soda + vinegar (control group)
Test Subjects
- Year-old grease buildup on a wok bottom
- Overflow stains on the stovetop
- Sticky grease residue on the outside of an oil pot
Test Results
First Place: Oxygen Bleach Powder
This stuff is genuinely amazing.
Usage is simple: dissolve the powder in warm water, soak whatever you’re cleaning for about 30 minutes to 1 hour, then wipe it clean with a cloth.
That wok bottom with year-old grease? I soaked it overnight. The next morning, I wiped it with a cloth and—wow, it looked like new.
Plus, it doesn’t damage the wok surface, unlike some cleaners that scratch the bottom. Full marks for this one.
Second Place: Domestic Kitchen Heavy-Duty Cleaner
This is a domestic brand, priced at roughly half of imported alternatives, but the effect was surprisingly good.
Spray it on, wait 5 minutes, then scrub with a brush. Regular grease basically gets removed. Overflow stains came off after two sprays.
Amazing value for money. Highly recommended.
Third Place: Baking Soda + Vinegar
This combo is truly the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time).
Cost is nearly negligible, yet the effect is丝毫不差. Baking soda removes stains, vinegar eliminates odors—together they’re a golden pair.
I use this duo for daily stovetop cleaning. Simple, convenient, and saves money.
Not Recommended: Daiso Cleaning Powder
Honestly, this one let me down a bit.
The marketing said it “easily removes all stains,” but testing showed it was okay for light stains, but basically useless against the year-old grease on my wok bottom.
Plus the powder design made it easy to spill everywhere. Mediocre experience.
Summary & Recommendations
If your budget allows and you want the best results: Oxygen bleach powder
If you want value for money: Domestic kitchen heavy-duty cleaner
If you want to save money while handling daily cleaning: Baking soda + vinegar
Not recommended: Daiso cleaning powder
Cleaning is really one of those “what’s honey for some is poison for others” situations. My experience is for reference only—results may vary. Sisters, if you have any great cleaning products, feel free to share in the comments!
