5 Essential Late-Spring Tasks to Prepare for a Comfortable Summer

Hey everyone, Grain Rain just passed and spring is slipping away.

As someone who organizes weekly and tackles seasonal transitions head-on, I have found the two weeks between Grain Rain and Start of Summer is the perfect window for seasonal prep. Temperature is right, humidity is manageable—get these done and your whole summer runs smoother.

Here are my 5 annual must-dos, personally tested.

Task 1: Deep Clean Your AC Units

Do not wait for 36°C weather to turn on the AC. You will discover filters packed with dust and spend all day sneezing.

I just cleaned our two units last week. Simple process: power off → remove filters → rinse with water → dry → reinstall. If you can reach the outdoor unit, give it a soft brush too.

If this sounds like a hassle, book a cleaning service now before peak season—no queues and cheaper rates. Do not ask me how I know.

Task 2: Wardrobe Seasonal Swap

Heavy coats and down jackets need storing. But do not just shove them under the bed!

My rule: wash before storing. Even if they look clean, winter clothes accumulate sweat and odors. Store them dirty and you will find mildew come fall.

Use vacuum bags to save space and prevent bugs. Add cedar blocks or mothballs—but skip the harsh chemical ones.

Meanwhile, pull out summer clothes to air out. Check for yellowing or stretching, declutter what you will not wear.

Task 3: Fridge Clean-Out

As temperatures rise, your fridge works harder. Clean it now.

Toss expired items—no second-guessing, health first. Check condiment expiration dates; many have been expired for months without you noticing.

Remove drawers for thorough washing—they hide grime like nobody is business.

Then adjust temperature settings. For summer: refrigerate at 2-4°C, freeze below -18°C. Save electricity.

Task 4: Dehumidifier Maintenance

The damp season just passed, but rainy season is coming.

Clean dehumidifier and dryer filters. Check air purifier filter life, replace if needed.

I am a use professional equipment person—trust machines for specialized tasks. But machines need maintenance too, or they are just decorations.

Task 5: Air Out Bedding

Take advantage of moderate sun before summer heat hits. Air out thick quilts—kills dust mites, removes moisture, stores fresher.

If possible, stand mattresses upright to ventilate. You will be surprised how much dust accumulates.

Those are my 5 Late-Spring Tasks. Do not do them all at once—one per day, weekend is all set.

Life goes on whether you do these or not. But that sense of being prepared really does lift your mood.

What is the temperature where you are? Getting ready for summer yet?
